| Two Issues Facing Digital Music: One for Fans, One for Labels | Comments Off |
For Music Fans
The Digital Music Weblog had a post on a company called Peerflix, that is attempting to address one big concern for digital media purchasers, that being the lack of any resale value [or market] for digital purchases. Much as digital distro has eliminated many of the cost associated with traditional distribution it’s also eroded the need for a used market.
Note: See the comments in the above link to find an existing company running a secondary market for digital media.
For Music Labels
For music labels it’s about keeping thieves fans from posting music online for anyone to have, or tracking those that do. Wired’s Listening Post covers a new alliance supporting digital watermarks as one solution. Comments show it might not be as fool proof as hoped for.
