27 more bands you should hear from here

The remaining bands that were mentioned by yesterday’s contributors, presented alphabetically, with the exception of our good friends the Superfantastics who lead today’s post off.

There’s two reasons I’m singling them out, both make the same point though – Halifax, for all the amazing diversity it has musically, is still small, and everyone had to know at least one band on their list. Probably many more [or at least members of multiple bands]. This was not clearly noted yesterday.

Matt Charlton’s comment on the Superfantastics further reinforces this point but I’d like to think that fans here can tell the difference between a good band, and a band that simply has friends. A small scene means it’s easy to become friends [or more] with a band you like. So with that said here’s the best comment I think anyone made about any band mentioned and the rest of the bands you should be checking out for now:

A lot of people say “You’re a fan of the band because you date the drummer.” I say “I date the drummer because I’m a fan of the band.”

And if that’s not enough to explore, the previously mentioned cokemachineglow scenecast for Halifax/Cape Breton offers some additional selections and more music from some of the artists included in today’s and yesterday’s posts.
