| it was nice hearing from you – bands that called it quits in ‘06 | Comments Off |
I’m not always timely – my friends know when they help me out [or cross me] that I may not always remember, but I’ll never forget.
I think that attitude extends so far to my blogging – I don’t always remember to get stuff out but it’s always in the back of my head. So to free some room there I’m going through drafts and the like over the next few days and just getting rid of lots of stuff. So just read this and see if you have/are/will miss anyone. [originally there would have been links/mp3s - maybe for next year's list!!]

Certainly not a definitive listing of bands that called it quits, but here’s a brief collection of Canadian and local [who obviously aren't Canadian] bands that packed it in for good for one reason or another this year.

The Organ
death from above 1979

The Deadly Snakes
S.N.F.U
Again…
The Fullblast
Locally [east coast] we lost some bands so new you may have missed them completely, others that were just coming into their own and also some long standing members of the local scene.
Treble Kings
The Burdocks
Hive Mind
Sharp Like Knives
Found this on some myspace page a while ago:
sharp like knives have split up…
and my heart is broken.

Gorged
The Maughams
If you live in Halifax though watch out for random performances on rooftops possibly.
Folks on Wikipedia have also compiled a 2006 Year in Review that includes a listing of bands that called it quits as well as new bands started, top hits and plenty more.
