Jonny Stevens will release his self titled debut album at Tribeca tonight. The show starts at 9pm with a set from Stevens and his band The Racket followed by guests Folds of Policy and then another longer set from Stevens. Refreshments have been provided by Propeller Breweries so come early and sample some great beer, great music and Jonny Stevens new CD.

I do like Propeller’s Honey Wheat Ale! I hope to make it to at least Jonny’s opening set this evening. I think next to Great Plains’ CD which was released recently, Jonny’s might be next in line of folks I know for long awaited status. He’s dealt with multiple recording sessions in a number of different studios, line up changes and has simply worked very hard to produce this album.

He also gets points in my books for actually including mention on his show posters of what style of music he plays/who may like him - I couldn’t find an image to include but I believe it stated for fans of the Clash, Billy Bragg the New Breed [his old band] and at least one other.

So here’s hoping everything comes together for this great guy.
