| Wired’s Listening Post Shuttled Amonst Other Wired Blogs | Comments Off |

And readers appear to be completely against the idea – as I am – based on the comments left.
Thanks for Reading Listening Post
You’ll still be able to find all of our previous posts here, but we’ve decided to fold Wired News’ music coverage into three other blogs in the Wired Blog Network. You can now find our music coverage on:
Compiler (music software and sites)
Epicenter (RIAA lawsuits, copyright issues)
Gadget Lab (music gear)
The intended purpose of the Listening Post was to: track the latest in digital music news, tools, and gear, plus coverage of the best new music online.
So based on the above breakdown you’ll now have to search 3 different blogs for the same content and will likely miss out on topics/issues previously covered altogether.
From the comments:
There are very few stories here that narrowly fit into any one of the three categories you’ve chosen; which means that you’re either going to see a lot of overlap between the three blogs, or none of them are going to present a complete picture. Sorry, but… REALLY BAD IDEA.
The great thing about Listening Post is/was its depth. Splitting it into three narrowly defined blogs deprives it of it strengths.
Wired magazine has been disappointing as of late for me personally though too so it makes sense that now their site and magazine are now under shared ownership they’d both be suffering from interesting decisions in their operations.
