| The White Stripes To Play Canada (Beyond Montreal) | |

The White Stripes are embarking on a Canadian tour (that’s the ten provinces and three territories…a possible revelation to some upper Canadian and West Coast bands).
Having never done a full tour of Canada, Meg and I thought it was high time to go whole hog. We want to take this tour to the far reaches of the Canadian landscape. From the ocean to the permafrost. The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island. Another special moment of this tour is the show which will occur in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14th, The White Stripes’ Tenth Anniversary —Jack White
- 10-JUL-07 : Moncton Coliseum Arena, Moncton, NB
- 11-JUL-07 : Charlottetown Civic Centre, Charlottetown, PE
- 13-JUL-07 : Cunard Centre*, Halifax, NS
- 14-JUL-07 : Savoy Theatre, Glace Bay, NS
- 16-JUL-07 : Mile One Centre, St. John’s, NL
Check out the band’s tour page for more info.
Note: I heard that Jack White (originally a Gillis) has family connections in Antigonish…where is the Chuggles show?
* Somehow I didn’t know this place existed.

I really like the sounds of that - seeing those two at the Savoy Theatre would probably be as close to an ideal venue as anyone around here would have the chance to see them in.]]>
< ![CDATA[i have also heard they're playing shoreline in pei.]]>
< ![CDATA[Yeah, that just sounds like a rumour to me. Shoreline might want to AT LEAST update the site with the 2007 dates…which appear to be July 13 - 15th (from a couple google searches). I can’t see The White Stripes going from Glace Bay back to Charlottetown for a second smaller set at a still soggy festival on July 15th and then off to St. John’s. Although, with PEI investing $350,000 in Aerosmith, I suppose anything is possible.]]>
< ![CDATA[Well, I haven't heard anything about Shoreline yet this year, but the White Stripes would have to have a lot of guts to trust that promoter after what happened last year. I, for one, will be staying far away from Shoreline no matter who they get. I was robbed of a day that I paid for last year, and I think any band willing to perform at Shoreline is doing so at their own risk.]]>
