Pandora to restrict music service to U.S. listeners - CBC
Not a full out casualty but definitely an initial wound that will be the start of the fall out from SoundForge’s new favored royalties in the US.
Music taste-matching website Pandora will shut its service to users outside the U.S. on Thursday, according to reports.
The service, which streams music over the internet and suggests other offerings that a listener might enjoy, will restrict access to its site due to higher royalty fees online radio services will be charged following a federal ruling in April.
Except, I can still access my stations and the site.
So I’m not sure if it’ll will be an ongoing process and I will soon be blocked or if something else is at work.
Regardless, via Wired, Frantic Industries has posted a list of proxy techniques you can use to fool Pandora into thinking you’re in the U.S. if you need to.
The easiest way is to bookmark this URL; when you want to listen to Pandora, enter pandora.com into the box, and the service should work as before.
