| “If you know the release date…it’s not an indie” | |
Last week I posted a video that was a rant of one independent filmmaker’s frustration with the studio system - the parallels are evident with music as in film, and while this is another film example, it easily applies to music as well.
“They’re sucked, but they’ve never sucked like they do now” - on Hollywood films
There’s some other nice comments on the current state of the film industry that again parallel the music biz of today. His point of the good stuff coming from B-movies and the independents rings true to me especially in regards to music.
Good interview regardless says this Bruce Campbell fan!
P.S. We’re definitely operating an indie label re: post title!

< ![CDATA[The release date is hopefully at least the same day as the show that's promoted as the CD release, although we've had a few posters printed up for shows that turned out not to be the CD release. Other than that it's always a mad dash to get audio masters, artwork, packaging and so on done ASAP!
That's one of the reasons we started doing small quantity CD manufacturing. At least we can pump out 50-100 CDs that still look semi-decent the day before the show if we can't get manufacturing done on time...]]>
< ![CDATA[That's a smart fall back plan having the means to do some discs yourself.
In the two years of running a jam space I've seen quite a few bands advertise CD release shows before they had CDs in hand and of course they never get them in time for the show.
I think for the label we plan on holding off on even booking a CD release show until we have product in hand. But we'll see...]]>
