This post will be simply filled under wishful thinking all around
A 45 held two tracks. An LP forty minutes. A CD seventy minutes. An iPod? DAYS WORTH! So, the ART FORM was challenged. How long should an album BE? Should there even BE any albums? Stunningly, both labels and artists are still debating this, still clinging to the album format when consumers only care about ONE THING! That the music be GOOD! They want a LOT of good music, and NONE bad.

Addendum: I couldn’t even be bothered to make a post about Live Earth - but there are two good posts on the Lefsetz Letter though - the first provides links to articles picking apart Madonna in particular [although I can not fathom she is the only hypocrite amongst the performers], the disconnect between what she wants people to think of her and her own reality is so out of whack it makes me wonder how one could even volunteer to take place in such a concert*.
The second post details some math regarding the supposed 2 BILLION people that took part in enjoying the concerts in some manner.
* It reminds me of Nova Scotia’s amazing visionary Premier Rodney MacDonald. When he ran for election as leader of the Conservatives last year he placed significant emphasis on his campaign document entitled Building for Families, Building for the Future - all the while having an affair on his wife of 11 years [and mother of his child]. Now I do not think anyone has any right to intrude into someone’s personal matters such as those - but I also wonder where Rodney’s advisers were when they decided to pursue the angle they did. Like I said visionary. [And like I also said wishful thinking]
