Erin Costelo to release debut EP, The Trouble & the Truth
The Music Room, Saturday, September 15, 8pm(Halifax, NS) – Singer/songwriter Erin Costelo will be releasing her debut EP, The Trouble & the Truth, at The Music Room (6181 Lady Hammond Road) on Saturday, September 15, 8pm. The show will also feature an opening set from Al Tuck and No Action.
From the first few ghostly notes of Erin Costelo’s The Trouble & The Truth, the mood is set for a unique artistic experience. Made up of piano led compositions that divide their focus between jazz informed songwriting and playful experimental arrangements, the album’s seven tracks dodge any kind of convention. Costelo’s warm and accomplished vocals blanket each track in a hushed intimacy as her lyrics deliver a hard won perspective rare this early in an artist’s career.
With tips of the hat to everything from Tom Waits to Brill Building pop, The Trouble & The Truth is a timeless collection of songs that strives well beyond the standard.
The album features guest performances from Al Tuck, Lukas Pearse, Andrew Glencross, Caleb Hamilton, Gillian Costelo, Alex Porter, Ron Koop, Bernard Kehler.
