The Good News
wintersleep, Their Majesties, Jill Barber, Brent Randall and His Pinecones and Two Hours Traffic all make appearances in season one of CBC Country Canada`s In Session. The program films Radio 3 sessions you may have heard already (or not). In addition to the locals mentioned above there is a who’s who of Canadian talent represented (see full schedule below).

Series Promo

Producer Jordana Ross has been hard at work on this series as shooting started (the pilot) in June of 2006 in the Vancouver studios and the season wrapped in March 2007 in Toronto [just in time to catch Their Majesties]. Congrats to Jordana on seeing this get to air.

The Bad News (until…)
Unfortunately you will need satellite or digital cable to be able to watch these shows (well until someone puts them on a torrent site). If you do have one such service you can find CBC Country Canada on Rogers 277 , Cogeco 166 , ExpressView 641 , StarChoice 512 , Shaw 96 & Videotron 106 (for more service providers see http://cbccountrycanada.ca/CountryCanada.pdf).
Unless we are warned otherwise I may see about posting the torrents to any shows that turn up too.
I personally would rather be able to see the show than not - although this is partially having me consider digital cable and a DVR unit.

Regardless, episodes air Wednesdays at 6pm, 10pm & midnight ET. Episodes will repeat on Sunday at 5am ET and Monday at 3am ET. For more information about In Session (or if you caught last night’s show and want to let her know what you thought) contact Jordana Ross at jordana_ross@cbc.ca

The guys hit the road this weekend to take part in the 14th annual music fest known as Gobblefest in Sydney. They will be playing two shows Friday while also backing up one Jon Epworth for part of his performance.

5 Oct 2007 Steelworker’s Hall (GOBBLEFEST) Sydney, Nova Scotia – ALL AGES
5 Oct 2007 Bunker’s (GOBBLEFEST) Sydney, Nova Scotia

ggmu recently wrapped up a recording session with Jon where they re-recorded two songs from their independently released EP and recorded two new songs. The EP will be released this fall by From Here To There Records.

In case you missed their debut EP - Textbook Records steps up to school you on what you missed. Watch for the digital release of the EP by the end of the month from the good folks at Textbook when you’ll be able to grab that for $4.50.

Never heard of the band – wonder what they sound like – you can wait for one of their upcoming shows [see below] or, well we’ll let the guys at Textbook Records explain their sound:
“What do they sound like, you ask? Well, the band is comprised of a ground breaking combination of ELECTRIC guitar, ELECTRIC bass, and ACOUSTIC drums. They play CHORDS (some power, some open) and sing WORDS! The band’s myspace says they sound like Jet Set Satellite, but I’ve never heard that band! Are they lying? Do they really sound like Harry Connick Jr.? It’s up to you to decide.”
