Fall Horise is a band I have yet to catch live but hear about on a regular basis. Their reputation would get their release noted here, as would their show including a webcam feed performance from Berlin – butthe poster sealed the deal for me.
Josh Holinaty from Calgary, did some of the album art on stacy’s new EP as well and is responsible for the poster below. You should definitely check out his portfolio online as well at: http://www.holinaty.com/

Fall Horsie will be performing as a full band of brass and strings percussion and piano, and there will be lots of special guests over the course of the night at this show, helping out musically and with stage theatrics. And like the poster says, Stacy Lloyd Brown who is releasing a brand new EP will be playing songs from the new album as well a long awaited show from Ghost Bees.

Great Plains now called Alright Already

Halifax, NS post-punk nerds Great Plains have re-emerged from a 6-month period of relative inactivity with new songs, new members, and a new name – Alright Already.

A six-month bout of laryngeal reflux knocked guitarist/vocalist Sean MacGillivray’s voice out of commission for the first half of 2008, during which drummer Jeffers Lennox left for France to work towards his Ph.D.

Having recently replaced another departed member with multi-instrumentalist and producer Andrew Wiseman,
Great Plains turned to the drummer in Andrew’s band – Arthur Doyle – to take up the cause.

Meanwhile, the long-dormant – but original – Great Plains from the United States released their 25-year-old back catalogue on iTunes, prompting bandmember Paul Nini to contact their Haligonian counterparts to inform them of the name conflict, but offering to peacefully co-exist without resorting to cease-and-desist tactics.

After much gnashing of teeth and namestorming, the Halifax quintet settled on a new moniker – Alright Already – and set about refining and writing new material to add to the existing Great Plains repertoire.

Alright Already will re-introduce themselves on October 4th at the Seahorse Tavern on Argyle St. in
Halifax with Sleepless Nights and The Slate Pacific to help them celebrate.

Alright Already is:
Sean MacGillivray – vocals, guitar
Andrew Wiseman – bass, vocals
Jason Vautour – guitar
Arthur Doyle – drums
