I own a jam space called the Rock Garden. I NEED* these at the bottom of the stairs when you come into the space, or somewhere else on the floor you wouldn’t expect to see them tilted back like they’re looking at you. They’re so weird looking. Or imagine waking up to that one morning……
* willing to bet they cost more than I think I’m willing to pay to have that “need” satisfied
Saw this on flickr:
My favorite piece at the craft fair. This guy makes some really interesting things from stone. I wish I would have taken a picture of what looked like a folded t-shirt w/ buttons.
UPDATE: Thank you to Brynak who found this guy’s website! The man’s name is Hirotoshi Itoh. You can find him at the site below.
For all of the English readers out there, the “English” link will take you to a well done page with info about his work and several images. There are also more images available if you click on the second link “自遊石” and then “gallery” on the resulting page. Anyone interested should check out the webshop because this guy is, frankly, awesome. Enjoy!
Dedicated to folks in Ontario and other areas being hit by – snow-mageddon in Toronto. According to this CBC article the term was actually used in one of the official warning bulletins
“A weather bulletin from Environment Canada warned that much of southern Ontario will be hit Friday and Sunday by significant snowstorms. The storms appear ominous enough that officials compiling the bulletin actually wrote, “Could this be snow-mageddon?“”
The story below is from the UK’s Independent. I personally find it rather distasteful but it did give me a great idea for Apple to help out their stock price in the New year!
Picture this, the iProfiler – all the standard features of an iPod – or even an iPhone, but with some extra anti-terrorism/security features that create profiles of the listener based on their music listening habits. With the anti-terrorism/security sectors booming this is definitely where Apple should focus for growth without having to eliminate all the work they have done on their music players/phones.
When this rolls out police and other officials will merely need to ask to see your iProfiler, select the appropriate menu options and know if instantly if they need to make time to kick your ass. Steve jobs can thank me later, or maybe now with some stock that I can cash in when this takes off!

I am devastated that we live in an age and city which gives billions to wealthy bankers who brought the country to a financial stand still yet our elected representatives see it fit to kill off the arts that made the city famous.
Teenage kicks will be harder to get if publicans and managers of other small venues are forced to comply with a new piece of bureaucracy called Form 696, a former punk rock star has warned.
The form demands that licensees give police a mass of detail, including the names, aliases, private addresses and phone numbers of all musicians and other performers appearing at their venue, and the ethnic background of the likely audience. Failure to comply could mean the loss of a licence or even a fine and imprisonment.
The police say they need the information demanded on Form 696, which runs to eight pages, so they can pinpoint which acts and venues attract troublemakers, and make sure venues are safe. But Feargal Sharkey, who rose to fame during the punk era as the vocalist on the single “Teenage Kicks” by the Undertones, is so angry about what he sees as a threat to live music that he is consulting lawyers about how to stop it.

If you are involved in online media of any type these annual reports are great for a bigger picture view of what is happening and what is likely to happen in the New year. Thus if you are in music you should have a quick glance at least, might get some good ideas for promoting your music in the new year.

MUSICAL APPLICATIONS – DEADLINE JANUARY 31 ~ 2009
Yes it is true, we are accepting submissions now for the 2009 edition of SappyFest. Simply send us a link to a myspace page or some such equivalent online thing, along with a note of interest.
Please send to: info (at) sappyrecords.com with something relavant in the subject line.
NON MUSICAL APPLICATIONS – DEADLINE JANUARY 31 ~ 2009
As we all know, a lot of ‘indie rock’ is a tremendous bore. To compensate, the programming committee at SappyFest have made a habit of bringing in a variety of non musical acts, spoken word, trapeze, films, contemporary dance etc. If you think you may be suited for this kind of activity, please send us some info, images, and a short written proposal. Jugglers and face painters need not apply.
Please send to: info (at) sappyrecords.com with something relavant in the subject line.
WEBDESIGN INTERNSHIP SAVIOR [ED. Note - wish I had though of this request first!!]

Def Jux announced that Aesop Rock has made a new track “Tomorrow Morning” available for a free download starting December 11, 2008. A quicktime slideshow of artwork by renowned bay area artist Jeremy Fish, lyrics and an instrumental version of the track are included in the download. This is a logical extension for the two artists – the pair first collaborated on the 2006 book and 7″ picture disk set “The Next Best Thing” and Fish created the cover art for Aesop Rock’s None Shall Pass. This release stems from Fish’s recent art opening Ghosts Of The Barbary Coast in San Francisco and is another example of hip hop and street art hegemony the duo continues to forge. Link and more information below.
Celebrate (((Black))) Xmas at Lost & Found with far-out sounds, new art, food+drink, and big time sales. The entire weekend is FREE to attend, but we will be taking donations for the Canadian Cancer Society.
