So Sundays use to be the busiest day of the week at the Rock Garden. Since the New Year though they have been pretty hit or miss. No real clue why….I am kind of blaming Isaac…..though he really didn’t do anything…. But to try and get folks back in on Sundays, every hour booked on a Sunday in May counts as one entry in a draw for free jams to the end of the year [6 months of 1 free weekly 2h jam - free jams do not have to be used on Sundays].
All you have to do is book time on Sunday, make sure to use your full name or band name and you are entered. We will post the winner of the random draw the first week of June.
Saturdays have never been super busy, so we may start offering some deals on Saturdays as well too. Right now this is all an experiment so we will see what happens….. [many of you using Foursquare?]
Bookings can be made:
- In person at 2304 Hunter St.
- By phoning 404-7007
- Or emailing bookings@rockgardenjamspaces.com
“Evolve serves as the summer’s marquee event in the Maritimes” —Exclaim! Magazine
The Evolve Music and Awareness Festival is an annual 3-day summer celebration of music, culture, and social awareness. From its start in 2000 as a grassroots music and awareness festival featuring local bands, the festival has grown to showcase world-class performers from around the globe.
Evolve also plays host to workshops that inform spectators about social issues such as personal wellbeing and environmental awareness.

What’s new this year?
BATTLES!!!!!! [Their MySpace, Homepage]
I personally have yet to attend an Evolve festival but the idea and dancing all night long to the likes of Battles and Mark Farina [one of the best parties I ever attended was his performance in Halifax a few years ago at Electropolis] is oh so compelling!!!!
Add in !!!, The Duo, Man Man and a whole lot of great local acts (plus some lovely camping) and it is shaping up to be a fine weekend.
Locals representing [seems like quite a few this year too] include:
Slowcoaster + drummer Brian Talbot’s DJ set
Jimmy Swift Band
Grand Theft Bus
Hey Rosetta!
The Superfantastics
Christina Martin
Brent Randall and his Pinecones
Tomcat Combat

CONTEST PART
Want a free pass for the weekend and a copy of Man Man’s latest?
Well we have two of each to give away.
Just leave a comment below, maybe tell us why you are looking forward to the weekend and consider yourself entered!
A random draw will be held next Wednesday and the winners posted on Thursday.
In what I believe is our first contest – AQR has two passes (one prize) for the June 26th Jose Gonzalez show being brought to us by Jeemy.net aka Jeremy Macneil.
In order to be considered, simply comment below (or shy folks can email info@aquietrevolution.com) and tell us something about Mr. Macneil. Maybe he has been part of some local music fests….Perhaps as a young entrepreneur he provides other services for bands…He definitely owns a business…Maybe he has put on other shows, been mentioned in some local press…I knew he did plenty but as I think of hints (I have more but that is enough) he really has been pretty involved with making some things happen locally.
So reward Jeremy`s hard work and yourself potentially with a quick Google search on the man or a website visit and share with us what you found. Anyone that provides a valid response (what is valid you ask, what ever I say!) will be entered into the random draw and one winner will be selected.
Deadline is Friday May 30th and the winner will be announced on Monday June 2nd.
Tickets just went on sale Friday past and already a third have been sold so one way or another you should get on with securing a ticket for this show (great venue for this too!!!)
