Anthony Pappalardo and co-author and art director Nathan Nedorostek have compiled the book “Radio Silence/A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore Music.” An accompanying photo exhibit, “Radio Silence/Selected Photography,” comes to the Fourth Wall Project in Boston on Feb. 7, and the black-and-white images suit hardcore’s gritty aesthetic well.

Found this last month, some good pics for hardcore fans http://www.boston.com/ae/music/gallery/radiosilence?pg=11

A thread over on Locals, My music blog received a cease and desist? reminded me of this nice and simple explanation refuting label’s arguments on piracy.

As the thread was spurred by a take down notice I would like to note that If anyone wants to blog about any of my label’s music I will send them a personal thank you.

I am fairly certain I have trashed Ms.Winehouse on this very blog in the past – I have issues with those displaying clear talent choosing to get twisted out of their trees instead and she has been an easy target for such attacks. I will digress on such attacks for now and support her stand on raising awareness about breast cancer with young women.

I lost my mom to breast cancer, and while not quite 24 [she was 42 when first diagnosed] I can speak to the need for for women of any age to be aware and take the time for regular self examinations and doctor visits when appropriate. Working for the Canadian Cancer Society I meet young girls [young children] to seniors fighting cancer – their is no age limit or requirement when it comes to cancer invading your body. And anyone’s odds when fighting cancer are greatly improved with early detection.

Moodily strumming a guitar in the nude, with only two pieces of duct tape and a strategically placed musical instrument to protect her modesty, Amy Winehouse is the epitome of rock’n'roll style in a new series of images taken to raise awareness of breast cancer among young women.

The black and white portrait shows the Rehab chanteuse performing one of her sultry sets in a basement studio. “I feel it’s so important that people understand breast cancer affects young people as well as older women,” says the 24-year-old.

Music Makes Good Pics Too: Woody Guthrie

I am not even sure who I would compare from current crop of singer songwriter’s as even a potential heir ….. So much vapid meaningless shit produced today [Black Eyed Peas I mean you] it is easy to forget the faith people had in the belief music could change the world [some folks, like Neil Young, no longer think it is possible].

Music Makes Good Pics Too
I see lots of great visuals related to music and will start firing them up under MMGPT.
A series of interviews with designers is in the works as well – all with the intention of getting musicians to consider the visual impact – and opportunities – present with their music.

If you are a designer that works with music on a regular basis in any capacity and would like to add your 5 cents get in touch [info (at) aquietrevolution.com].

And what about pictures turning into music?

RGB Experimental Music Laboratory

RGB MusicLab converts RGB (Red, Green and Blue) value of an image to chromatic scale sounds. *Also MIDI file which is created by RGB MusicLab can be converted to the original image. The program reads RGB value of pixels from the top left to the bottom right of an image. One pixel makes a harmony of three note of RGB value, and the length of note is determined by brightness of the pixel. RGB value 120 or 121 is the center C, and RGB value 122 or 123 is added a half steps of the scale that is C#. Pure black that is R=0, G=0, B=0 is no sounds.
