How we work

We are definitely inspired by the ideas of agile development and lean start-ups. Think learning by doing, rolling out the basics required, getting feedback, adjusting and repeat. (There are projects/situations where that does not work, say events for example, where we're flexible with this). But in short: doing is better than not. And there is not much we believe that we cannot accomplish together.

"It's impossible, that's sure. So let's start working." - Philippe Petit

The above quote is from the documentary "Man on Wire", the story of Philippe's tightrope walk between the Twin Towers in the 70s. If you have not seen it and are in need of some inspiration start there (Trailer).

Work/Life Balance [a.k.a. How We Bill]

We measure ourselves based on the quality of work we produce, not the hours worked - we also work the hours that work best for us, not necessairly a 9-5 day. Thus, we bill by the project (or on a retainer basis), not the hour. We feel this also allows us to create a clearer sense of responsibility for what we are to deliver and fewer surprises for you.

The Industry Focus (We Lack)

We don’t specialize in one vertical. We don’t work with one size company. We focus on creatively addressing issues of, or encouraging, change. We are not industry specific on purpose.

Dealing with change, creativity and innovation, it is amazing what ideas can be taken from one industry - ideas that may even seem old - but introduced to a new industry are revolutionary. This cross-pollination of ideas is a key to our success and yours.

Hollywood (Staffing) Model

There is a core of approximately half a dozen of us starting. Beyond that we have set up a call list from our networks comprising over two dozen creatives, programmers - you name it. This allows us to bring in only the skills you need and bill accordingly (often refered to as the Hollywood model). And if that won't meet the challenge at hand....

+ Crowdsourcing

We're backed by experience using crowdsourcing to generate new ideas, designs and products when desired results or budgets call for it.

Still interested in working with us? A general flow (varies slightly based on services required) for our working relationship would be as follows:

  1. Initial Meeting(s):
These are essentially mutual interviews allowing both parties to ensure we can establish a successful partnership, while starting the audit process at the same time.

  2. Audit/Research:
Depending on the service(s) hired for we begin exploring your existing and past materials, your competitors and the industry at large looking for patterns, mistakes, opportunities, hooks.

  3. Goals, Strategy, Tools:
At this stage we answer: What does success look like? How will we get there? And what tools are best to do so?

  4. Implementation:
Now you'll begin seeing output related to your goals: initial drafts of new logos, training of staff for social media plans. By the end of this stage finite products such as logos or websites will be delivered, as would training and strategies for social media plans or advisory reports.

  5. Monitoring:
All our work comes with a follow-up period whereby we monitor for intended results. Output from us could include ongoing adjustments, reports or repeating steps above and reevaluating strategies.
